About Us

The Nursing Education Collaborative for Haiti – La Coopérative des Infirmières en Éducation pour Haïti (NECH-CIEH) is a nurse-led initiative involving professionals from Haiti, the US, and Canada. Our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of the Haitian people by elevating and strengthening the role of nurses in both community development and healthcare across the country. Although nursing is the largest profession in Haiti, nurses are often undervalued and underutilized in healthcare teams. Few hold leadership positions, with many working under the direction of doctors, limiting their potential to promote health and prevent disease. In a country where four out of five people live below the poverty line and less than half the population has access to clean water, nurses are essential to public health. NECH-CIEH seeks to bridge the gap between healthcare and community development by empowering nurses to drive change within and beyond the clinic.
