In 2017, Goldbelt identified a new mission for CP Marine: to become a Pacific Northwest-based federal government contractor. Goldbelt subsidiaries have participated in the 8(a) program for approximately 20 years. During that time, Goldbelt has consistently sought to find career opportunities for Alaska Native shareholders (and their descendants) in its government contracting operations. The vast majority of Goldbelt’s shareholders (and descendants) live in Alaska and Washington State, while Goldbelt’s successful federal government contracting companies are clustered on the East Coast (generally in Virginia). The new vision for CP Marine is part of a strategic, targeted plan to build an 8(a) company in the Pacific Northwest focused on Custom Computer Programming (NAICS 541511) that involves greater participation at all levels by Goldbelt shareholders.
