    Job Summary

    This position is in the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG), Victim Services Division. The mission of the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants is to develop, fund, and coordinate programs that improve public safety; enhance the administration of justice; and create systems of care for crime victims, youth, and their families in the district. OVSJG supports and coordinates the development and implementation of a comprehensive system of care for crime victims, justice-involved individuals, and youth at risk for truancy or juvenile delinquency within the District of Columbia. The Private Security Camera Incentive Program, administered by the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants, encourages residents, businesses, non-profits, and religious institutions to install security camera systems on their property and register them with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

    Duties And Responsibilities

    Meets program objectives by overseeing daily operations, analyzing efficiency, tracking funding as well as budget data, increasing community awareness, and organizing community engagement. Create a comprehensive set of draft recommendations for new proposals focused on redesigning the Private Security Camera Incentive Program, which must include legislative amendments and detailed rulemaking strategies to ensure the program remains flexible and responsive to continuous technological improvements and shifts in the economic landscape. By incorporating these changes, the program can better meet the needs of its stakeholders and effectively adapt to future challenges and opportunities. Monitors program expenditures, budgets, and financial reports to ensure responsible funding allocation for the Private Security Camera Incentive program.

    Identifies problems and specific issues in a particular area and advises leadership of existing problems and recommends solutions or alternatives. Analyzes facts and circumstances involved in making recommendations for solving problems/issues within the limits of standards, or acceptable practices. Collaborates with city officials, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations to promote the program. Identifies and collects performance metrics and tracks program costs.

    Qualifications And Education

    In addition, Specialized Experience is required that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

    The incumbent is required to possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s permit.

    Working Conditions/Environment

    The work is primarily performed in the normal office setting

    Tour of Duty: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

    Pay Plan, Series and Grade: MS-0301-13

    Promotion Potential: No known promotion potential.

    Duration of Appointment: Management Supervisory Service – at will

    Collective Bargaining Unit: This position is not covered under a collective bargaining agreement.

    Position Designation: This position has been designated as security-sensitive therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability and as such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks, background investigations, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, as applicable.
