As an intern with Hayes & Associates, you will:• Gain “real-world” experience working for a fast-growing CPA firm• Gain experience by working on different assignments including: tax, audit, accounting, and research• Participate as a member of the H&A team on projects, working along-side Professional Staff and Sr. Leadership• Complete audit engagements for designated clients as directed by your supervisor or Engagement Manager• Learn how to prepare various types of tax returns• Develop proficiency in using various tax and accounting software programs• Learn how to identify and communicate potential problem areas in financial documents, records, and reports• Conduct client specific research by gathering data, interpreting results and presenting findings to Directors and Shareholders• Develop effective client relationshipsIdeal candidates for this position will possess the following essential skills:• Have a 3.0 GPA or higher and be in their junior or senior year of college.• Preferred completion of at least one Intermediate Accounting course.• Preferably on track or already qualified to sit for the CPA exam.• Matriculating towards a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field.• Basic understanding of accounting debits and credits and tax rules.• Ability to work independently on assignments and communicate issues in a timely manner.• Excellent time management, organizational abilities, attention to detail.• Good communication and interpersonal skills.• Good client service skills, prior customer service work is a plus.• Strong analytical skills, with attention to details.• Experience using Microsoft Office products.This is a paid internship ($14.00 per hour) with flexible scheduling (up to 30 hours per week).
