About the Job
The Staff Accountant, with a focus on Cash processes, will prepare and maintain financial records, and other related financial activities that include enforcing policies and control procedures in the handling, processing, deposit, and reconciliation of cash receipts.
Primary responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain a monthly and daily cash report.
- Reconcile the operating bank accounts to the General Ledger on a daily basis.
- Prepare the monthly bank reconciliations for the operating accounts as well as each store’s petty cash account.
- Research any issues with deposits not being received by the bank in a timely manner.
- Prepare any necessary journal entries for the bank transactions.
- Ensure the integrity of the Corporation by developing and documenting accounting procedures and internal controls in all processes. Create process improvements.
- Ensure that assigned GL balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled prior to closing each period, including preparation of GL account reconciliations.
- Prepare recurring and correcting journal entries as needed. Ensure all entries have accurate supporting documentation attached to the JE and all JEs have an approval.
- Assist with requests from auditors for year end audits.
- Research technical accounting issues utilizing various accounting publications and propose the proper accounting treatment or disclosure.
- Special projects such as system conversions, budget setup, research and problem resolution, training other accountants and others projects as needed.
- Accounting degree or currently enrolled in final semester or equivalent number of years of experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong problemsolving and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with resolution of accounting issues.
- Selfstarter with strong time management skills.
