Job Title: Art Instructor - Digital Arts - Remote | Work From Home Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Art Instructor specializing in Digital Arts to become an integral part of our dynamic team. In this role, you will empower adults with varying degrees of developmental, learning, behavioral, emotional, and intellectual disabilities through engaging studio art practices. Your expertise will facilitate these emerging artists in discovering their unique talents, enhancing their artistic skills, and connecting with the local art community as professional creatives. Instruction will be delivered through various artistic mediums, including drawing, animation, video art, digital art, and 2D design, using both in-person and remote platforms such as Zoom and phone. Key Responsibilities • Implement individual artistic goals tailored to each artist's Individual Service Plan (ISP), ensuring their safety during all art center activities, both onsite and in the community. • Assist artists in maintaining accurate progress notes and actively participate in regular meetings and training sessions. • Supervise artists during their arrival, departure, breaks, and lunchtime, providing a supportive and structured environment. • Deliver remote art instruction through digital communication tools and co-host art classes alongside fellow instructors. • Guide artists in the proper handling of materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring the safety and protection of their artwork while fostering their unique artistic style. • Monitor and assess artists' progress throughout their projects, offering constructive feedback aligned with their ISP goals. • Organize and maintain art equipment and supplies, ensuring studio areas are clean, organized, and properly utilized. • Support artists in curating their portfolios, labeling, and storing artwork, while assisting with the digital documentation of completed pieces for supervisors and case managers. • Engage in staff meetings to discuss and develop artistic, educational, and social objectives for each artist, considering their diverse backgrounds and experiences. • Adhere to established safety protocols, including emergency procedures and First Aid/CPR when required, and assist artists with personal hygiene needs as necessary. • Actively promote the art center's mission and services to visitors and guests during in-person and online events. • Contribute to the organization of special art exhibitions, including setup, installation, and breakdown, and provide support for artists in presenting their work publicly. • Assist with community outreach and fundraising initiatives, including the distribution of materials and public engagement regarding program services. Required Skills • Proficiency in at least one specialty area of art and in digital art techniques. • Strong teaching, facilitating, guiding, and advocacy skills for artists. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective instruction and support. • Proficient use of digital communication platforms including email and video calls. • Supportive and encouraging approach in assisting artists with their creative processes and achieving artistic objectives. Qualifications • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with demonstrated expertise in 2D and digital art techniques. • A minimum of six months of experience in studio work, teaching (including roles such as undergraduate TA), or involvement in public or private art projects and installations.
