Paid Part-Time Mechatronics Engineering Position

GolTech is a UCSD & NSF funded startup dedicated to building lab instruments that accelerate the development of hydrogels which are materials used in drug delivery, woundcare, cosmetics, diapers, contact lenses and more.
Job Summary:
As a Mechatronics Engineer at GolTech you will work directly with our CTO and technical team to develop our laboratory automation instrument. This part-time position is compensated with an expected weekly commitment of 20 hours. The position is in-person at our workspace located in the Design and Innovation Building at the UCSD campus.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and rapid prototyping of various electromechanical systems starting from design requirements.
2. Software development building the code that drives our automated lab instrumentation.
3. Operation of commonly used prototyping tools, software, and equipment such as 3D printers, hand tools, Autodesk Fusion/Inventor, Arduino, etc.
4. Effective communication of design reasoning and elements to other members of your team through weekly meeting attendance and progress reports and technical write-ups.
5. Design and CAD modelling of individual parts and assemblies.
6. Hands-on work and assembly of our prototype device.
7. Testing and validation of designed parts and assemblies.
Requirements:
· Education level: Graduate student status or higher (undergrads with significant experience may be considered)
· Proficiency in CAD Design (Inventor preferred)
· Proficiency in C++
· Proficiency in mechanical and electronical prototyping
· Ability to read, understand, and generate technical documentation (such as datasheets)
