Subject to availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.Duties And Responsibilities• Under general supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson, design, deliver, update and assess instruction in ESOL/ESL in terms of student learning outcomes. Teaching duties include teaching ESOL/ESL courses at transfer, advanced, intermediate, and beginner levels, as well as in the Intensive English Program (IEP).• Other teaching-related duties include, but are not limited to:• • Preparing course syllabi and reports related to teaching and student progress;• • Assessing student learning in terms of student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes;• • Integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area;• • Maintaining one office hour per week per three-credit class taught for conferring with students about course work;• • Submitting self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations;• • Teaching evening and/or weekend class offerings as necessary.Minimum Qualifications:• Master's degree in English OR• Master's degree in English as a Second Language (ESL) OR• Master's in Fine Arts (Creative Writing)Desirable Qualifications:• Relevant coursework and successful teaching at either the secondary or postsecondary, preferably at the community college, level;• Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of the community college with its open-door policy and its diverse population;• Demonstrated ability to teach beginning through advanced levels of EAP, as well as college level writing, following a content-based/integrated skills approach;• Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in the assessment of student learning outcomes;• Demonstrated ability to teach in online and hybrid environments, as well as to integrate technology to support learning inside and outside the traditional classroom;• Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in current trends in the areas of second language development and theories of learning, and demonstrated ability to develop and adapt teaching materials based on these trends.• Willingness to author and develop materials to support instruction.INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOTBE CONSIDERED(Read the "To Apply" section carefully)To ApplyClick on the "Apply" button on the top right corner of the screen to complete an application and attach the required documents.
