About the Role: We are offering an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team that is evolving and growing. Reporting to the Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role to support Vallex Construction projects. As a Junior Estimator at Vallex Construction, you will: • Determine the project scope of work: analyze project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and other relevant documents.• Estimate the cost: prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates considering all aspects of the project, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, permits, and other associated expenses.• Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate their proposals, and negotiate competitive pricing to ensure cost-effectiveness.• Conduct on-site visits to assess site conditions, potential challenges, and any factors that may impact the estimation process.• Assist in preparing the construction schedule.• Contact trades and suppliers to obtain bids.• Ensure that all estimates align with relevant industry standards and local regulations.• Maintain and update a comprehensive cost database to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the estimation process.Education/Qualifications/Skills• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field, or an equivalent qualification.• 1 – 3 years of estimating experience in the earthwork or construction industry.• A combination of field and estimating experience, is an asset.• Strong skills with M.S Office.• Experience using estimating software like Bluebeam is an asset.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.• Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
