About the Job
The Accounts Payable Clerk position is responsible for performing a variety of professional accounting duties with the principle areas of responsibilities being accounts payable process for entire credit union and processing of expense reports and employee reimbursements. This position will also assist accounting personnel as requested.
Position Responsibilities
- Verifies accuracy, completeness, and consistency of accounting information received.
- Ensures all invoices are paid in a timely manner to avoid additional fees and preserve the credit rating and vendor relations of the Credit Union.
- Verifies information including branch allocation and general ledger account is accurate before putting invoice in queue for approval.
- Processes and posts credits to corporate accounts. Processes expense reports.
- Posts, balances, and reconciles general ledger or subsidiary ledgers as assigned.
- Generates reports as assigned.
- Maintain, produce and file vendors’ 1099 tax information.
- Works with vendors and/or departments to resolve common problems.
- Assists Accounting Department personnel as needed.
- Keep management informed of area activities and any significant problems.
- Attends and participates in meetings as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six months to one year of similar or related experience.
- Previous Credit Union experience desired.
- Technical knowledge of accounting concepts, practices,
- procedures, and financial reports
- Knowledge of related computer applications.
- Familiarity with basic bookkeeping procedures.
- Able to meet deadlines and manage projects.
- Attentive to detail and accurate.
- Well organized.
- Cooperative and willing to assist others.
- Able to use computer applications, adding machine, and telephone.
- Stationary work, often requiring standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Operate standard office equipment and keyboards
- Visually recognize, reconcile, and verify numerical details for accuracy
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Must be able to access and navigate facility with reasonable accommodations
- Lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items
