Requirements
Transaction Processing
- Enter and reconcile sales transactions from multiple e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Amazon, PayPal) into accounting software
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
- Verify and reconcile third-party payment processors (e.g., Braintree, Paypal, and Shopify)
- Assist in tracking the cost of goods sold (COGS) and reconcile inventory purchases with accounting records
- Coordinate with operations or warehouse teams to match invoices with received goods
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, merchant accounts, and e-commerce platform payouts
- Identify and investigate discrepancies in payment settlements and refunds
- Support month-end closing activities by preparing reports and summaries of transactions
- Maintain organized digital records of invoices, receipts, and financial documents
- Assist in generating basic sales tax reports and filings for different jurisdictions
- Prepare and provide required documentation for internal and external audits
- Ensure adherence to company financial controls and e-commerce accounting best practices
- Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role (e-commerce experience preferred)
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Excel
- Experience with e-commerce platforms and payment gateways is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with inventory management systems
- Basic understanding of sales tax obligations for multi-state / international e-commerce operations
- Experience collaborating across departments (e.g., customer service, operations)
